The deep, jet-black colour isn't from synthetic dye. It's coaxed out slowly using iron rust and jaggery, then boiled, steamed, and mordanted over a long, patient process until the cloth settles into an honest, authentic black. Because it's natural, every metre carries a little character of its own.
